Kabir Lab welcomes structured inquiries from Savannah State students interested in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, scientific programming, and data analysis. Project placement depends on preparation, time availability, and current mentoring capacity.
Savannah State Undergraduate Students
Status: inquiries are welcome. A project is confirmed only after a conversation about background, schedule, training needs, and available mentoring capacity.
Expected background: curiosity about molecular science, willingness to document work carefully, and interest in chemistry, mathematics, programming, physics, or data analysis.
Likely training outcomes: Linux command-line work, Python scripting, molecular visualization, electronic-structure and molecular-simulation concepts, version control, research notebooks, and scientific communication.
Application subject line: Kabir Lab undergraduate research inquiry
Example Project Types
- Literature-guided computational chemistry projects.
- Molecular modeling and visualization.
- Python or shell workflow development.
- Publication-data and repository curation.
- Simulation analysis and reproducibility checks.
External Undergraduate Collaborators
External undergraduate collaborations are considered only when a clear mentoring arrangement, project scope, and communication plan are in place.
Graduate Students And Postdoctoral Candidates
No public graduate-student or postdoctoral openings are advertised at this time. Any future opening will be posted with eligibility, funding status, expected background, and application instructions.
Research Collaborators
Researchers interested in computational photophysics, flavoprotein modeling, interaction maps, or reproducible molecular simulation workflows may contact the lab with a concise project description and relevant public links.
Application Materials
Prepare one concise email to kabirm@savannahstate.edu with:
- Name, major, and year.
- Short statement of research interest.
- Relevant chemistry, mathematics, programming, or physics courses.
- Weekly availability.
- CV or resume.
Weekly time commitment, minimum semester commitment, compensation or course-credit status, and transcript requirements are discussed before a project is confirmed.
Research Expectations
Students are expected to keep careful records, communicate progress regularly, respect data integrity, and distinguish tested results from hypotheses or exploratory notes.
